April, 2026
It’s a bit late, but today I found out that March 16th is Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists day. I am really sorry that I hadn’t found this out sooner, because if I had, I would have definitely wanted to say a big thanks to all of the team that are looking after me at the Churchill in Oxford. If you have read my blogs, you will know that I have nothing but the utmost admiration for the team including Kerrie and Cathy. They have treated me with kindness, honesty and empathy during this whole process from the first time I met Kerrie in Dec when she gave me the news that a malignant melanoma had been found, through to last week when Cathy gave me the great news that my scans confirmed that no cancer had been detected in my body and brain following the CT and MRI scans.
Personally I think we have no many of these ‘…… days’. I’m fairly sure if you can think of it, there is a day for it. But when it comes to the NHS and the team of Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists, I don’t think there should just be a day. I think there should be a week, a month or a year for them. Because they wholeheartedly deserve it! So this date is going into my calendar so I can make sure that I thank them on time next time. But if you are reading this. Thank you from me and my family for everything you have done for me over these really hard last few months and sorry for the belated message!
